They said I was all hat and no cattle.

I proved them wrong at Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda and smiled.

It’s hard to stop smiling in paradise.   Mom started the day in the Jacuzzi tub, room service brought juice and bagels for the kids. I sipped coffee on the balcony.

We started at the sumptuous breakfast buffet. The kids can’t believe the choices. Fueled up we head to the pool for more coffee in a recliner.

The kids bail out to spend time at their very own club. The main attraction for them is the water park with colorful slides, water cannons and lots of terrific supervision.   The morning flew by and then it was time.

Time to cowboy up!

A short drive from the resort on the fresh water of the Anamaya River is an awesome Dude Ranch.   This Wild West adventure starts with a 2-line zip line that has you soaring through the sky at tree top level.   You can take as many turns as you want too.

Then you saddle up for an unforgettable horseback ride. You can even borrow hats and chaps to complete your look. You will do more than just nose-to-tail horseback riding today.   It gets better.

Your cowboy family is going to help with an old-fashioned round-up. You will definitely remember the hooting and hollering as you wrangle a herd of cows.   This is fun and hungry work.

The chatter is lively when you sit down to a traditional Dominican feast.   After the last buttered biscuit you can swap stories by the bonfire under the stars. You can even refresh with a dip in the pool.

Quick Hint. Wear comfortable clothing, pack a swimsuit, sunscreen and insect repellant.

bahia-experts-travel-akumalThe outing is about 6 hours altogether and then it’s back to Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda.   There are live shows including a musical, bands and the disco. Or maybe it’s back to the suite to unwind.

Stop by the snack bar at Pueblo Principe and spread out in your suite. A family movie on the satellite plasma TV. Nightcap on the balcony for the adults.   It’s your choice at Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda.

All hat and no cattle? Nope, there was definitely cattle.
