In darts that means 3 in the middle.

At Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo it means they score a bulls-eye with service, luxury and variety.

A little time in the hydro massage tub, a cup of dark roast coffee and then off to the breakfast buffet. The kids are excited to revisit the water park.

They promised to show me what a water jet mushroom is later.

I can be found soaking up the sun on a lazy recliner by the pool with an ice cold beer. Other guests might head out to the spa to warm up in the sauna. Then they cool off in the spa pool.

The family hits the white sand beach together. Swimming, snorkeling and boogie boards are so much fun that we just grab juicy cheeseburgers at the snack bar beach terrace.

Yummy chicken and salads too.

Now it’s time for the trifecta! A detour from Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo for a few hours.

catamaranFirst we loaded the whole gang into safari trucks and traveled through the mountains. Second, we mounted horses for a 30 minute ride to El Salto del Limon. Third, it was all aboard a catamaran.

The safari trucks are tough enough to tackle the mountains of the peninsula. We played in the pristine water below one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. The catamaran took us to lunch and then to Caya Levantado.

barcadi-islandIt’s better known as Bacardi Island. The bar is smack dab in the middle of palm trees and sand. We took time to relax, swim and make new memories.

Afterwards we stopped for some fun shopping at the village of Las Terrenas. The merchants are friendly and participate in cheerful bargaining.   A great spot to grab some souvenirs and gifts.

Back at the resort the kids took off to have fun at their mini-discotheque after a gourmet meal at Las Dalias buffet.   The adults got their groove on to the bachata beat at their disco. Everyone finished the day at Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo tired and happy.

What do you call a 3-in-1 excursion other than fun, exciting and satisfying?

Hat trick.
