I scream, you scream.

The scent of the sea flows over the balcony at Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo.

Skip the coffee and have a couple of mimosas ready when she climbs out of the hydro-massage tub.   Then it’s off to the breakfast buffet.

After a breakfast fit for royalty, we decide to visit Rincon Beach. We had a blast. We rode horses in the water and sand.

After lunch on the beach we were invited to try out some Quads. Talk about fast and fun, it was very cool. We made new friends and celebrated with drinks on the beach.

This group told us about the deep sea fishing and visiting local caves. I had no idea that there is a restaurant that will take your fishing catch and prepare it as a meal.

How fresh and fun does that sound?

We did do a shopping safari.   The seaside town of Samana has plenty of souvenir and gift shops. We bought a few of the original wood craft creations done by local artists.

After an affordable clothes buying binge at La Girasol we made an important stop.

bahia-experts-travel-elportilloThe Bon Ice Cream Parlor. We enjoyed ice cream and a couple of cold Presidente beers on the terrace overlooking the bay of Samana.

Back at the resort we grabbed a beer from the bar and staked out a couple of recliners by the pool. Then it was a stop at the Spa for the sauna, a massage and then a relaxing rest on the water bed.

Talk about soothing.

bahia-experts-travel-elportilloWe caught up with the kids on the bright yellow slide at the water park. We accepted their challenge to join teams for beach volleyball followed by a boogie board challenge.

The kids won.

We cleaned up for a trip to the Las Dalias Restaurant. I am a fan of buffets. No lines, no waiting; just grab a plate and pace yourself.   The food is already prepared and so delicious.

The specialty restaurants, the service, the constant attention from a friendly and helpful staff, all combine to make an unforgettable stay at Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo.

My favorite threesome at the resort?

You, me and ice cream of course.
